hello again, i have a 77 150 4x4 with a 400 and a c6. the tranny was always in good running shape and after a large amount of engine work she decided to quit on me. she runs up to about 45 mph and around 4000 to 4500 rpms and wont shift. if i push her hard enough i get a super rough shift out of her. i also can not accelerate when going down hill.
It was just brought to my attention that this could possibly be caused by a disconnected vacuum line at the vacuum modulator?
is this correct? if so what should i look for and if you have any other ideas that might help i would appreciate it.

have you tried manually shifting into second?
the only vac line that I know of goes to the trans goes right from the intake down to the back of the trans on the pass side.
the vacume modulator sounds right, to check just get under and look at it, its on the back of trans, pass side, right above the pan make sure the hose is on and there are no cracks or splits in the hose. It should only be a short section of hose that goes to a metal tube, that goes up to the engine, and then check the short piece of vacume line on this end for splits or cracks. The vacume hose you get nowadays is cheap it dries out and splits were it expands to go on a hose barb, Ive had to do this every year till I bought some real good silicon hose over the net.
