Looking for some help, couldn't get an answer in the E-series Van section
I'd like to swap my '03 guage cluster with an '04 or newer version. '04's and up have a factory tach. All the other gauges are the same (and cluster is the same size)
My '03 has a mechanical odometer, later versions are electric (digital).
Concern is the ability to make the odometer and tach work. Figured there are experts here who would be able to answer.
You have more than just those two problems. The cluster's can't be swapped without the dealer programming them to be accepted by the computer in the vehicle. Long gone are the old days where stuff can just be swapped in as long as it fit and the plugs matched up.
And it is possible that the dealer can't program in somethng that isn't there to begin with. If the 03 computer system doesn't support digital speedometer data, you surely can not make the swap.
