House Ford Commercial

Anyone notice the Ford Explorer "commercial
Within the program?
About 5 minutes in the the show
There was a rear shot of the Explorer
And then a front shot of the blue oval.
The actress also described stability
Control to the passenger.

All in all clever product placement,
This technique will be the wave of the
Future, but with a touch of the past.
I think soap operas started like this.

Worst product placement I have seen has been Ford in "White Collar" As much of a blue oval fan as I am it was painful watching them force out lines in reference to how wonderful their Taurus was and various options the car had.

Some of the best were the whole Ford Family being used in the Daniel Craig James Bond movies.

Ford product placement was all over the cop shows in the early days of television. The original Hawaii Five-0, Streets of San Fransisco and Andy Griffith are three that come to mind.

Shows have been doing this for years, Bones did it a few times with Toyota, and when Avatar came out they even had Joel David Moore on and kind of centered the episode around the opening of the movie.

The new Hawai'i 5-0 is sponsored by Chevy now, Chevy blue and white squad
Cars in the show. Funny thing is HPD uses Crown Victorias in real life here!

Maybe they do now, but it's just a matter of time until the Vic's are gone...as Ford doesn't make them anymore.

Where I work now we are down to 1 Crown Vic... the rest are those crappy Impalas. I hate those Impalas.

I hope Ford makes a deal with all government agencies.

I am pretty sure this is the wave of the future.

It is, the Taurus/Interceptor beats the CV in every category. Don't get me wrong I love the Panther platform and hope to get a 2010 CV in 5-7 years when they are getting totally phased out of the fleets.

Here's a James Bond movie that was also painfully obvious.
Do you remember "The Man With the Golden Gun" where all the cars were AMCs?
The corkscrew jump was quite awesome in it's day, however.

I have not been in one of the Taurus Interceptors, but we have both Crown Vics and Impallas here where I work, and an Impala is WAY too small to put a cage in. I'm a larger person, but I have seen people literally half my size have a hard time getting into them. Theres about 8-10" of space between the cage/seat int he back of those things, freakin tiny.

The only time I prefer an Impala over the Crown Vic is when it snows, FWD vs. RWD.

The Crown Vic is better in every other category...and boy do they haul azz!

My niece, who is 29, is a state trooper. The car that the state supplied her is a Crown Vic. She loves it, much more than the Impala, except the CV has the "grandma" image. Her daily driver is a Mustang, so that just makes driving the CV a little tougher. She dreads the day when she has to give up the CV, but maybe by then they will have a better alternative.
