It use to be 2\60...two winders(georgia twang) and 60 mph...but since gas got so expensive I've reduced it too 2\40. When it gets above 85 f I will usually turn on the AC in the old 77 f250.....I had the ac fixed at the same time we were working on the motor!!!in texas we are just about 4 weeks away from your average 95 f day. fd
Heat, humidity and overall stuffiness play a big role in my decision to use A/C. I prefer fresh air, but I can't always get that when I'm creeping along on a crowded highway or stuck behind some Semi on it's last leg blowing smoke worse than an 1800's steel factory. A/C is something I use at the slightest hint of discomfort. Aside from wintertime, I do not hesitate going for the A/C control button on the dash at any time of day or night, cloudy, raining, whenever. I think most of it has to do with the fact that my Dad hated A/C when I was a young kid. I'm not kidding when I say that there were strict orders in the household governing control and usage of the lone air conditioner, and when violations ocurred, the punishment usually involved some further type of deprivation from the cool and refreshing benefits of A/C. So as soon as I was old enough to have my own wheels and then later my own place, you can be sure that, budget allowing, I equipped them fully with A/C. And it feels good to say that through the years all of my units have gotten a good workout.
I use AC whenever it feels stuffy or humid. Here in Oregon, that can be anytime over say 80 degrees and usually in July, August, September.
I usually prefer the windows wide open winter(with heater) or summer. I do use the AC to clear the windows in the rainy season, much of the year here ;^)
You should use the AC at least once a month just to lubricate the parts.
I hardly ever use the AC, even in the summer here in Texas. I like the windows down, even if I'm sweating a little. Unless of course there happens to be the all-important female in the passenger seat who doesnt want to get her hair messed up. Then the windows are up.
After working all day getting really sweaty, I prefer the AC off and windows down because the AC actually gets me too cold. I guess the evaporation coupled with cold air is too much. Windows for me!
I bought the new truck with AC for a reason, to use it if I am hot it goes on. The old 76' is a different story, it gets hot open the (wish my new super duty had em') vent windows and the rear slider roll down both windows and drive.
I use A/C when I am going downhill. The Saturn doesn't go fast enough when the A/C is on...
My truck lacks A/C, which is fine. It gets really hot in Denver, but it's usually a super dry heat, which isn't entirely uncomfortable as long as the sun isn't beating down on you...
I use the A/C when the traffic isn't moving fast enough to get a breeze going, or when the wind is hotter than the ambient temperature.
I can't wait for summer....
