Abs headliner covering question

Abs headliner covering question
Has anyone used the abs headliner from mid-fifty and covered it with vinyl? I am looking for any tips for doing this, what type glue, do you start the glue down process in the center and work out or at one side then to the other. Any hints, tips or suggestion would be great, thanks

I was going to cover mine in vinyl, but the back corners made me bail out and instead, I used headliner material (the "mousefur" tupe common to GM vehicles of the late 80's and early 90's) as it easily stretches and shrinks to adapt to contours. You'll need vinyl that easily stretches/shrinks to make it look right. Otherwise, you'll have to make cuts in the back corners to make it happen (I wasn't convinced I could make the cuts and make it look OK). Unless you've explored this completely, I wouldn't attempt it. BTW, this was my 4th headliner job, so I had some experience.

I would avoid vinyl on the overhead surface.....it's too heavy. Time, heat, cold, and gravity will cause the glue to fail. Whatever material you use, get a Good upholstery grade adhesive made for overhead panels.
