just bought a 2000 excursion,v10 limited. its in very nice shape, for michigan truck, and 225k miles...it has exhaust leaks at the manifolds, and broken studs in head. so...i was looking on ebay, and found ss headers that replace the manifolds...and since i see a lot of good info on this site,i thought i would ask..are these worth the effort? they are priced at 150-200 bucks or so,whick i think is cheap,but!..whats the fit,and quality like??? i assume the leak is a crack, but havent had it on my hoist yet,to ck foe sure....thanks for any help,on my new sled trailer puller!!! so far i love the tank!!
I did Gibson headers, Mike's 5Star tune and a FlowMaster muffler. It made a huge difference in towing but I did all at the same time so I can't say which is better. Obviously, Mike's was responsible for the better shifting.
i ordered a programmer from mike at 5 star,he was very cool, and it should be here by friday. so rob...how bad are the cheapies on ebay? i understand gibson makes a fine part,as i have used them also, but for 175 bucks? are they a leakers?,or dont fit? what would cause you NOT to buy them again? i have a pipe bender here at my shop,sp building a crossover pipe is nothing,as a 3" exhaust also,is going on also...so are they junk???? thanks, mike
they worked good for about a year then they would start to crack around the flange due to the motor torque when you were towing and heavy throttle so thats why i went with the gibsons
