got about 9300kms on my truck now, quite enjoying it. Average for the life of the truck has been 16.7L/100Km, or 16.8 mpg. This is pretty good seeing 85% of the miles so far has been city, and 50% of those miles have been loaded down or towing. The remaining 15% have been highway, and 50% of the highway miles have been towing or loaded as well What can I say? Its a work truck.
Towing a 7*16 cargo trailer weighing about 7k-lbs lately on a regular basis. one trip got 11.2 mpg with a stiff headwind. On a calm day or light wind it will get 14.5, tail wind I got 16.5... This is with cruise set @ 100km/h, it sits in 6th gear and doesn't move. Rpm around 1700-1750 or so.
Empty with the cruise set @ 100km/h it gets 25, hand calculated. Truck computer is usually within 3-5% accuracy.
My only complaint about this truck so far is the small fuel tank. Working out of town and having to fill up twice a week is a nusience. Marlon told me the 2012's are supposed to come with a larger tank option. I may see if its possible to perform the upgrade in my truck.
Pretty happy with it otherwise. First vehicle I've had that will hit the speed limiter/governor without straining.
A huge difference I notice is how this truck handles in snow/slippery conditions vs my '08. The '08 was a 4x4, but to my knowledge didn't have any traction control or skid control stuff on it other than the limited slip diff, and the 4x4. This '11 has a pile of that stuff which I always assumed were gimicks, but now I say nay-nay. Its very sure footed, try to swing the *** end sideways going through a corner and it straightens up before the rear goes past the front in the attempted skid. However its totally useless in 2wd. Need some way to turn off the turbo
I haven't heard about anyone that hasn't been happy with the Ecoboost yet. Heard a 5.0 with a dual exhaust system the other day. It sure sounded awesome...
A lot of guys your age say that "If it ain't a v8, I'm not driving it"... Well, if you're as performance minded as I think you are, you'd drive one of each and change your tune. I drove them both, in basically the same truck, same options same cab/box/gear ratio configurations, and seat of the pants, the 5.0 just didn't hit like the Ecoboost. Now, I don't have the sweet exhaust tone, but everyone knows that noise don't mean power...
I was talking about my number 1 son in law who never owed anything less than a Ford in his life. Even number 2 son in law, who was in Yorkton, bought an 04 F150 so everything was looking up.....except they split up.
Sherm. You can get the bigger tank installed. Apparently it bolts right in and all the hook ups are the same. I read about a guy in the states that had the dealer changed the tank out right away and it cost him $600.
Glad to here you really happy with your truck. I think I will be ordering a '12 Ecoboost sometime in January so it's here for the camping season. I'm finding it hard to be without a truck!

I'll have to look into it... I asked the dealer about it a while back about swapping with the bigger tank from a 5.0 truck, but they said it couldn't be done easily enough to make it worthwhile. Something about the way the fuel pump and lines are run. Must have to be EB specific.
Wonder if the computer can be re programmed to accomodate the extra capacity? Would be nice to keep the guage and MTE readout somewhat accurate...
