I looked at the for sale page here on FTE and not much going on. I'm considering getting rid of my 50 F1 and my summer car to get my dream truck (a 56). I want one that is running already with very minimal work left. I am not opposed to doing any work on it if necessary, but at least has to be running. My problem is that there aren't many around me and it takes forever to go through every page on craigslist. So I'm asking if people could search their local craigslist for a 55 or 56 F100. I'm willing to travel if I find one I fall in love with. Thanks for the help!
Search tempest is going to be the last straw in the downfall of our society... we all spend too much time there, and less time working or with loved ones.... and therefore, although our true loves (the trucks, duh!) Get spoiled and our bank accounts run low... who needs heat? As long as I have electricity to power the pc so I can get on www.searchtempest.com lol
Try searching the areas/states nearest you, and cities near family and friends...That way if you find something, it's easy to get a trusted pair of eyes to look at the truck before you start negotiating with the owner.
Narrow your search to "1956 Ford" or just "1956". Don't neglect the smaller towns....it's those rural communities that have F100 gold in those old barns.
As a rule of thumb, expect to pay about $1 per mile to have it shipped to you. Shop around though, there's cheaper transport available, but you have to find it.
Once you search around a little, you'll see which areas have noticeably more F100's on the market....(Dallas, TX for instance...seems to be the F100 capital of the south, or it was while I was searching)
