Intro and help

I am getting a 1944 1 1/2 ton ford truck. It has S# of 49T 6042xx. I am trying to find anything about it. I will be picking it up in about two weeks. My step Dad drove it home when he got out of WWII. He used it until 1961. It was then parked and never even looked at until he was going to scrap it. I told him I would give him $100 for it. So far I have not been able to fine much information about. My friend ordered two different parts books off of E bay. One ffice:smarttags" /><?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comUS</st1:country-region> and one from <ST1lace w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">Canada</st1:country-region></ST1lace>. It does not have the 49T in them. They don’t have much of anything about 1944. Hope some one can point me to some information on it. Thanks.

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...ghtsafter1.jpg

Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).

When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).

Your pic will be placed in the post.

Hope that helps.

welcome to the site. 1944 is military---you won't find much info for the year. it is, however, the same as 1946 and early 1947.

1944 Info

maf3of6

I have found some information in my Canadian Parts Book pertaining to your Truck

4=1944
9=95 H.P. Engine
T=Regular Truck

Wheel Base is not specified for 134', so the book states. The rest of the numbers are most likly line job numbers.

Sounds to me like that Truck was made in Canada.

If by chance there is an "F" in the Serial # it signifies right Hand Drive.

Hope this will give you a start on your search.

49T was the model, indicating a '44 model big truck. In '44 a civilian could only obtain a new truck by filling out paperwork and being approved that they needed a truck and it would help them continue work and their contributions were essential to the War effort. Your SN puts it in the right time frame for a 100 HP V8 powered truck. And the SN is in sequence for a US built truck. Congratulations on your truck, feel free to stop by here often with any questions you might have.

Here is the page from my parts book where I got the info that I posted above. I'm not 100% sure if that info is correct but this is what i have found.

You may have to download this pic and blow it up on your computer to read it, anyway for what its worth to you.

I will be picking up my truck in the next two weeks. “1944 1 ½ ton ford” We will be hauling it back on a trailer 420 miles. I was going to spray PB Blaster on every nut and bolt that I can so the trip on the way home can help break things loose. . I am assuming that the engine is locked up. What would you use in the cylinders if the engine is lockup to help brake them loose? Any other things I Should / Could do before we bring it back?fficeffice" /><O></O>

Get a squirt bottle than fill it with half ATF and Acetone. Pour it in the cylinders and spray it on everything. Use lots and do it often. I swear you will never use anything else. Maybe the hot candle wax trick if ya want to save the nut and bolt is about the only other thing I use. I use WD-40 for polishing and cleaning and stuff like that. It's mostly fish oil, water and grit.

What is your formula for the ATF & Acetone mix, is it 50/50? Also what is the Hot Candle Wax Trick? Never heard of that one, sounds interesting.

Yes 50/50. As for the wax ya heat the bolt or nut than let some wax run into them. Let it cool than try it.
