7.3 glow plug issue
Make sure your new GPR is working by checking voltage on both big lugs of it with the key on. Sometimes a new part will fail.
Get a plug in Voltage meter now, you will be glad you did

The usual was going through my head. Low Batts... thick oil.... GPR problem..... (The wife glaring at me because we might be late for work). I said..' Let me check the Batts and the GPR'. I reached into the center console and pulled out the Voltmeter that plugs in the accessary plug and plugged it in. 12.49 volts..... Good... Hit the switch to the 'wait to start'....12.39 volts.... This was not good as I knew that the voltage should drop at least to 11.5 and it did not even get close. I told the wife the the GPR is bad and I will pick on up that night..... Then the truck started. My wife was impressed
(thanks guys)Last night I went to NAPA and asked for a GPR 109 (order by part number instead of year/model if you can) and it came to 25.00. I asked for a AAA discount and got that too. After paying I asked about the 'Warrenty'. (I knew that I had bought one there a couple of years before) He said .... 3 Years or 36,000 miles. ( I thought that it would be one year warrenty) I thought that I have bought one there in 2009 and was that under 'warrenty'? Yep... January 2009. He said to bring in the old one and He would refund my money. I 'almost' got three years out of it.... and now I will get this one free.
The GPR on my truck had in the Last few weeks stoppe, as I use the 'volt accessary' every couple of weeks and the GPR was working fine at that time. As I was taking the nut off of the hot wire side, the post snapped out of the unit. Yep... it was melted and brittle. Replace it all at home and no cost of GPR unit or a call to a mechanic.
Thanks to the people here at FTE, I knew what was going on with the 'no start' and knew where to look for the bad part AND how to fix it myself.

My recomandation is to get a plug in volt meter and check your electrical system out before the snow starts flying and your stuck BECAUSE you did not know that your GPR was not working.
Easy to check each and every time you get in:
1)Checks Batt voltage... (12.4 v)
2)Checks voltage drop when GPR engages (or if it does not engage) (1v drop to 11.5) (truck Must have 10.5 v to start)
3)Tells you when the GPR shuts off (voltage will start to rise from 11.5)
4)Checks output of your Alternator output (14.4v)
