I have a 2008 mountaineer that the blower motor runs on full blast no matter what.the switch bars go up and down but blower motor does not change speeds. also upon opening the hood I found 2 large mouse nests ,1 on passenger side fender and 1 center of engine towards the back. Are these related or could it be a switch issue. any guidance on how to remove switch and test it Thanks
If the wingless bats have invaded the engine compartment they are probably in the air duct as well. There is a resistor in the duct which has a thermal breaker(looks like a diode) that is cooled by airflow, no air flow over it and the bugger melts .
When this resistor malfunctions the fan only operates on full speed by default... access is made via hood, it is on blower box... Philip
Do you have the manual HVAC controls (dials) or the electronic climate controls?
If manual, then the blower motor resistor will have 4 wires to it and is mounted to the left of the blower motor housing. As mentioned above, the blower motor resistor block is bypassed by the blower motor relay #2 when high speed is selected.
If automatic climate controls, then the blower motor is controlled by a solid state motor controller, including high speed. The speed controller is located in pretty much the same place as the resistor block.
I am not sure if this is the right thing. 6l24-19e624-aa it has a phillips screw on top and hex bolt right lowerside. I can text or email some pics i also have dual climate controls electronic
