260,000 plus miles. Still has original shocks and struts.
Question...Is it worth replacing them with that many miles? Some rust starting, Never any engine and tranny problems.
Second question...Replace with stock or good after market? Ride is still good. Just washboard roads give the rear suspension fits.

If you are going to continue to drive it, put new shocks on it. You'll be surprised at the difference in ride and handling. Plus keeping the tires on the ground is paramount to safety.
You don't have to go hog-wild.. I picked up new ones for my '96 4x4 at AZ.. the cheap Gabriels were ~$18. I picked up the next up at $25. They work very well. Get something similar to the original equipment if you aren't going to be doing anything crazy with it.
Doing nothing crazy. I drive a LOT for my job. About half of it is on back dirt roads. I know I just looked at Blistien...$280.00 for all four. Your price seems much better.

Looks like you have been the victim of a parts store counter person trying to increase his ticket average. Gabriel shocks have been in the buisness forever. They will give you a good service life but even in you job field on back roads then Monroe sensatrac would be the highest upgrade I would use. For $280 you could get the Rancho RS series cheaper. Forget Bilstien. They are designed more for performance than anything and the parts stores do get a kickback for selling recomended parts. I know I've worked at the big three part time for extra cash. Thats why Autozone sells more Bosch Platnium plugs. I don't think I've got $280 in the 4 edelbrock IAS on my Monte carlo. Either way new shocks will greatly improve your ride and safety.
My original shocks were completely dead at 75,000 miles. Replacing was totally worth it. I had a coupon + a rebate offer from Napa (for rebranded Monroe shocks), so I think my total bill was about $150 for all four.

Reason: excessive use of "totally"
