The belt for the alt is not lining up with the groove its supposed to be in. I am wondering if using the after market balancer is throwing this stuff off? Do some companies offer spacers to line this stuff back up or do I need to find a different balancer drive pulley?

Looking at the problem, I think it is just the alt that is not in its home. I did the 3G upgrade while the truck was apart. I used an alt off of a 94 Sable. It is the big case with the 8-1/4" spacing. The pulley is off by about 2" from being where it needs to be. Has anyone heard of this? Does anyone know of a fix?
I don't have a fix but you can double check if you have the right alternator by going to the web site of a parts store and typing in the make, model and year of the car you took the alternator off and then typing in the m, m, & y of the engine you want to apply it to. If they give you the same stock number on the replacement part for both then it should be compatible. good luck.
Does your Bronco alternator mount in a smog pump bracket similar to this one from my 460?

Ok, so this what I have observed. The balancer pulley is not sticking out far enough. The A/C bracket and and tensioner pulley is out past the balancer pulley. So the balancer is at fault here. So back to the original question"is there a spacer made for these to shim them out far enough?".
I was looking at the wrong rung on the balancer pulley to line the alt up with. I thought it went on the smaller rear rung b/c the WP pulley was sitting right on top of the second rung where the alt really goes and there was no way a belt could have went on that one w/o routing like the PS belt does.
Then I noticed that the A/C pulleys were out past the entire balancer pulley. So then that put it into perspective. My IT guy didnt post the pics I needed him to or this would be easier to explain if you could have seen what I saw. Actually the spacer is the .875 one. I held a straight edge against the face of the tensioner pulley for the A/C and let it run down to where it was in front of the balancer pulley. Then I used the inside measuring feature of my calipers to measure the gap between the face of the tensioner and the face of the damper pulley. That measurement was 0.875:". So I went to ebay (which had the best pricing) and ordered one. Should be here Wednesday.
