just curious if people still pull/tow with their bumps.

if so, what engines and how much.

i regularly pull 8000 to 9000 lbs. with my f-100(properly equipped of course)

I used to pull my 5K boat plus my 12' slide-in camper. The whole rig, including the F250 weighed 15K. My engine was a stock 460.

Last time I hauled a big load, it wasn't on the trailer hitch.

Someone told me there was some free wood, so I loaded up.

Dunno how much it weighed, but the rear of the truck was a lot lower than normal and I was grateful for first gear.

Dumped it in my driveway and I'm still dealing with it, chainsaw and log splitter. Won't burn it this year, but it will come in handy for next year!

Oh yeah, towed about 9k plus over 1000lbs in the bed from Bremerton, WA to Twin Falls, ID. It did great, but I bent the front end of the leaf springs into an S shape and blew my driveshaft out on a hill in Oregon. Engine is a 360 built for towing with torque grind cam, cam timing advanced, and 4BBL carb.
I am now rebuilding the truck with a 7.3IDI, ZF 5speed, multilink rear with coils and air assist, and a B&W Turnover ball. Should do decently.
