getting my winter plow truck ready. its been sitting for 8 months now with occassional starts to keep batteries charged.

got it running, popped the hood, and noticed smoke puffing from the drivers side valve cover gasket. tried tightening the bolts a bit. then noticed smoke puffing from oil fill too.

are these two separate gasket problems or do i have a head gasket problem etc? truck seems to run fine but i havent put it on the road yet. also dont know if this is a new problem or went unnoticed last winter.

Sounds like you have a lot of blowby, I would first either service the cdr or better yet install a new one.

 

also check the valve cover gasket.
