Anybody Else Have Sludge Problem
Brought my 2008 6.4 in for what I thought were the beginnings of a HPFP failing. The dealer got the truck to act up, started investigating and found it was a sludge clogging the primary rail fuel filter. It is a rust colored, gummy paste type of sludge covering the entire filter. The dealer stated that if that crap got to the HPFP it would cause it to come apart. After hearing this I pulled the filters off my 2010 and the same thing.
Has anybody else had this problem? I have been filling up daily at a CITGO truck stop that is busy all the time, use diesel kleen at every fill up and clean my filters at about 9K to 9.5K.
I guess I will start changing my fuel filters at 5K and will never be stopping at my normal filling station again. What fuel brands are you all using and having luck with? Responses are appreciated.

Never had that issue. I don't use citgo. Locally I use sheetz or more often the Southern States co-op for my fuel. Those are the only ones I use unless on the road.
On the road it is pilot/flying J unless desparate.
I suppose they need to flush their tanks. They must be old and are rusting on them.
You might want to drop your tanks and flush them
