I have a 1999 F150 XLT and my passenger side power window is stuck down. I have removed the panel and vapor barrier, but can't seem to get the window to budge. I read what I could find on the site, have even tried tapping on the motor. Still nothing!
I don't want to force it too bad in fear of breaking something.
I hear a click when I push on the down window button (either side). Nothing happens when I push on the UP side though. The driver side works fine, though.
My 88 has done the same thing several times. When is happened to me, I took the motor out and it ran fine in both directions, re-installed it and it worked. All I can figure out is that the linkage was jammed a bit more than the motor had power to overcome. It has not happened now for almost a year so I am about due for it to happen again.
There were 8 or so wires that ran to the passenger side switch and, from what I have read in previous posts, two come from the master switch on the drivers side. Of these eight, I couldn't for the life of me figure out which ones would make the window go up (or for that matter, down- in which I would hear the 'clicking' noise).
Still, I used an ohmeter and was able to figure out which sockets supplied the 12VDC. Then I started using that to go to the other sockets. I was fed up (I am REALLY no good at electrical stuff) and decided to put most back together and try it. Lo and behold, it worked! I have no idea why, except maybe the switch was stuck?
Anyway, I want to say thanks to all that helped! This is a really good place to find information!
