Hi all, i've been reading tons of posts on leveling kits and i'm almost blue in the face from all the reading. I have a 2000 v10 CC shortbox 4X4 that I'd like to "lift" using Zone's 2-1/2" kit. I'm a bit nervous though, because I don't really want more than 2-1/2" of lift for a couple reasons. 1) because I still need to get through a 7' garage door, and 2) I don't want to cause alignment problems.
I also want to lift the back to maintain factory rake, either with a 4" block or 5" block, depending on how much the frontend comes up.
I called zone and they said before I install their kit leaving the bottom leaf out (2" lift), to drive it a little bit and let the front end "settle down". For those of you with the zone kit or tough country kit (similar style kits) that started out with over 2-1/2" of lift, where are you sitting now? Has it settled down any?
Did you drive it right away without getting it aligned?
Sorry for all the questions, I just want to do this right.
I wouldn't look for it to "settle down" much, if any. You can drive it after you install the leveling kit, but you need to get it aligned. If you don't, expect to start eating front tires and the truck to not steer the same.
you dont need it aligned after a lift on a leaf spring truck. So far i installed lifts on my 2004 SD, dads 2000 SD, buddies 2003 SD, 78 K30 and never gotany aligned. just adjust the drag link so your wheel is centered after the lift is installed and your good to go.
