This has happened several times since I purchased truck in 2006, probably 4 or 5 times a year.:-drink:-drink3 dealers have said no problem found. Have switched wires on cyn 1 and 3, no effect. Have put in new plugs, wire and coil. Have had the inlet manifold gasket changed. Still occurrs, especially if humid weather or damp. Happens about 1/4 mile driving. The independent tech said he saw coolant in engine using a scope. Dealers say no way. Light sometimes goes off by itself and if not I reset. I still have a warranty so if engine blows I guess I am okay. Anyone else had this problem? Maybe just a computer glitch? Truck runs great otherwise.
Do you use ANY antifreeze over a 2 month period ? I was using maybe a cup or two in 60 days. THought i had a head gasket or head crack by #1 cylinder. Put Bars copper sealer in 2 years ago and that was the end of it.
I'd disconnect the coil connector of #1 and the PCM connector and check for high resistance between the coil's LT GRN/WHT wire and Pin #26 Lt GRN/WHT wire of the PCM connector. Also check the #26 pin in the PCM for green corrosion or bent. If the lock clip for the coil harness connector is broken you might want to repair that as well. Check to verify if the weather pac seal is missing from the #1 coil harness connector.
Phil, my truck is 2000 F150, 5.4 and now has 107,000 on it. I purchased it in 2006 with 55,000 from a Ford dealer. I was surprised they had no info in their maintenance on this problem. I started having it a couple months later. I think the dealerships do not want to replace a head gasket. Thanks for reply.

Steve, so far do good. Did this right after your suggestion. The truck even seems to run better. Good tip.
