I have read through some of the threads about battery cables and how to make them and repair them, but I am in a pretty rare time in my life where I have more money than time. I need to buy a set of battery cables and I would prefer to buy the positive and grounds all together as a set. Is anything like this available anywhere? I don't want to spend a total fortune, but I would pony up for a kit thats going to save me time and heartache. Thanks in advance.
yup,and i didn't mention in that thread (because i already beat a dead horse in others lmao) that you can pull yours off,and have NAPA match ya up a set too.
depending on your store, (if you have a napa) they may need to order 2/0 (or 3/0 if you prefer) in though,as they may not sell enough large wire to stock it.
i went to my local marine store and got the tinned marine cable and lugs (it's a lot more money,i don't recommend doing this unless you plan to own the truck for a long time, cus it's cheaper than replacing them again years latter is all,as they really last) and had NAPA press my lugs on for just a few bucks each, which beats buying a tool id personally never need again.
by doing it this way,you can use marine style posts, which is really, really, really handy for adding stuff in seconds.
still not one issue with this setup either fyi,and iv got instant (a full second maybe?) cold starts.
I'd have to look again but I may have 3/0 battery cables on my truck. The one near the radiator on the passenger side wore through and burn through some of the frame and fubar the cable jacketing around it. I split some heater hose and zip tied it on. The truck still starts very well and I have two 650CA batteries the PO installed some years ago. I usually hold the throttle down about half way if it is under 70F out and 3/4 of the way if it is 30 or below out. It always fires up within 3 seconds.
