I removed fan and shroud today, i ran for and hour @ 40 and idled for hour and temp was no higher then 204 F . Its 43 F out... looks like will be fine for winter/spring/fall... i wonder if i get by with summer
Have you ever towed a heavy load with your truck? Thats the ONLY time my clutch fan ever comes on. I don't think I could make it come on unloaded if I tried.

Same here, I've never heard it kick in unloaded during the winter, no matter what kind of traffic I get stuck in.
Only time mine ever kicked in was headed west on I80 @ 70mph pulling 10k during 102deg heat. Sounded like a jet was trying to pass us. Pulling that load under more "normal temps" the fan only spooled up on long grades.
Its a E350 van, i dont tow with it. I tested again 44F outside temp, at 55mph temp was 165F, parked it,revedleft it and held at 2k rpm for a min then let idle for 30 min and the temp held at 192F. I notice a bit more power, no more fan clutch lockup for 5min when cold, and engine heats up faster, not to mention i can see front of my engine to replace CPS,water pump , hoses/belts and what not with ease....dang these 7.3s are cold blooded critters
My friend has a brand new flex a lite electric fan sitting in his shop. I wonder if these fans would be enough for towing in Hawaii.
To be honest, I wouldn't even trust those fans towing in Alaska. I would only use them if my truck was a dedicated track truck, otherwise the stock fan is a far better choice.
