Wasn't sure where to put this as there doesn't seem to be a solid forum related to my year of Super Duty.......
Just bought a 1997 F250 Super Duty cab and a half, 4wd, automatic, 7.3. It is currently at the Maryland Inspection station being safety checked so I can get tags. The inspector said that the brake warning light in the dash comes on just fine when you engage the parking brake, but it is supposed to also come on and then go back off when you turn the ignition on, and the light is not coming on when turning the key. Anybody ever experience this with these trucks??
I have a '94 F-Superduty and a '93 F250. Neither of these turn on the brake light with the key (like the check engine light), but both lights come on with the park brake pedal...
Well, according to Ford Motor Co, the light is supposed to come on when cranking. Turns out there are two ground wires. One for the master cylinder switch and one to the ignition that is only active on crank. It was an easy fix and now I got my inspection. Thanks for the replies everyone.*
