why are you asking? in other words, what are you trying to do?
i dont know any differences, but i do know a lot about what is the same between the two. stating why you are asking will help answer your particular question.
My brother just bought a fixer truck and the frame is destroyed.. so we thought it would be alot cheaper to get a new frame... it'll be around 800-1000 to fix the current one... and probably 100-200 for a frame..
Essentially, nothing is different from the front axle back. The very front of the frame rails where the radiator support, front fenders, and bumper all meet up is different between the 8th and 9th gen trucks. It's similar enough that guys doing a nose swap to the 92-96 style on the 8th gen trucks are able to weld on the front of the frame rails with out too much hassle. From the front axle back though, it's pretty much all the same. You may run into a few holes not being in the exact same spot or the holes being used by something else, but other than the small details, the frames are exactly the same.
everything will bolt up. . .but id be amazed if you found a quad cab frame at all, let alone for 200 bucks.
if it was mine, i'd rebuild the frame using parts from other frames, and box it back to the bed to stiffen up that football field rubber frame while i was in there.
theres atleast 3 crews at pick n pull... u can get the frame for about 300 from them.. The frame damage is really bad. The guy hit a horse.... the front rails are almost perpendicular to the rest of the frame.. and the frame is ripped
well then ya got some nice boneyards out there in CA. . .well worth it to pick a good frame then and start fresh. i'd still box it back to the bed if it were mine.
