Is there a way to test the float in the tanks I ran out of fuel the other day and I really don't want to repeat that and if it's no good I will buy another one I just would like to not have too! But like stated I will have to see if the float is good and maybe the gauge or wiring is bad
Drop tank, remove it, clean it up thoroughly, and put it in a bucket of water and see what it does. If it adjusts on it's own, might work, if not replace it.
EDIT: Remove all the water thoroughly after, and let it dry before re-installing it
That is what I am afraid of. I haven't been able to find one for diesels, I have found lots for the gassers. Is there away to modify one to work for these trucks?

I think the only difference between gasser & diesel sending units is the actual pickup. Everything else should be the same. I worked for AC Spark Plug when they were making the GM units. The higher viscosity of diesel dictated a change in the strainer.
I know the float moves up and down freely like it is supposed too the tank and float came from my parts truck I had to switch tanks because the scrap yard drilled a hole in the other tank
