I have a 1969 F100 with an inline 6 (302?))... I also have a 351 Cobra Jet that my awesome dad has given to me to put in the truck. Will the transmissions work together? Is there anything weird I'm going to encounter when swapping these 2 engines that you guys could give me the heads up on? Thanks in advance!
I don't know if the transmission will transfer over but i have a 300 inline six which is probably what you have either a 300 or 240 which are virtually the same but the stroke i think is a little bit more on the 300 along with more displacement, I believe. But I'm interested in this answer too haha.
Awww man! I am fairly certain it's a Cleveland... I'll have to ask my dad to be sure. I guess I'll post in here when we figure it out!? So much for hoping for easy.
Are you sure about the bell on the Cleveland, I'm thinking it used the same bolt pattern as the Windsor & 6 banger. I could be wrong but was the C sold as a Cobra Jet or was that 428 & 429 engines.
Alright fellas, sorry to pull the girl card here some more but can ya give me pointers on changing brakes from drum to disc in this old pick em up truck? I've heard something about spindles from another year truck, like a 73 or a 79 or something??

Find & buy a 73-79 donor truck that has the engine & tranny type that want your truck to end up with. It will have all the parts needed for your upgrade. Later when you need replacement parts just refer to ** year and walk away. Lift the front wheel off the ground and test for king pin wear. Keep the front end well greased, king pin wear will be very little.

Lift one wheel or both? I'm fairly sure mine are worn out as my trucks second life was a ranch truck pulling tractor equipment for around 20 years.
Bud, Using the truck doesn't wear king pins as long as they are kept greased. It is the lack of grease that allows for accelerated wear.
It won't take but a moment longer to check both sides. Place a hand and 12 & 6 oclock while pulling up & out from the bottom. 1/8" or less movement is not bad, more I might keep looking.
