Rad. Core Support issue

I am going to get a new Radiator Core support, however I am kind of confused. I have a 65 F250 352 engine. On the obsolete & classic auto parts site I can use earlier year part but LMC indicates that it is a different part all together. I am rather a green horn so to speak on anything with this kind of work, so any help I would be greatful. Thanks in advance!

You want the 65 ONLY core support if your truck is 2WD
If its a 4WD you want the one the one for 61-64 trucks as it was used on all 65 4WD trucks along with F350 trucks.

Repro core support fits most any model with round inner fenders. 65-66 2wd have the 'square' inner fenders. Here's a FTE how-to on making the 'wrong' one work for you: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...or-66-use.html

A good thing to do as you wait till you tear into disassembly is doing alot of wirebrushing of the various fasteners and spraying with PB Blasterlubricant...its an excellent rust penetrant and easily found locally.
Dependiong on how bad your core support is you may need to get new mount hardware as well...there are mount kits available which include the rubber mounts and fasteners. Feel free to contact me if you wanrt the rundown of which fasteners are at which locations and tricks and such needed to remove fasteners...there are a few that are especially difficult to get to and require some patience.

Thanks CS65 I have been using Blaster and the wire brush thibg for awhile now. In my case I have to buy the tools and the parts along with all the other stuff to live on too.
Hopefully when spring hits, I will have all I need.

I can attest to the 65 2WD core support ... I bought one I'm going to use after a little modification in my 66 2WD ... best I can tell, I'm just going to have to modify the radiator support and figure out something for the battery tray.

If anyone wants more detailed photos of the support, just let me know - just came in last week and it'll be a few weeks before it gets installed.

cs65 - good to know. I haven't put too much thought into it at all yet, since I'm still waiting for parts. On the battery tray - does it still mount in the front?
