Coolant level when cold?
so, the truck has been sitting for a week. today egr cleaning day and i notice no coolant in the resevoir!
been having troubles with the infimous coolant odor
in cab thingie. cause?

Nope, not normal. Any smoke? I would top it up and try to get an idea how bad it is. Could be leaking rubber hose on EGR cooler line. Smells under the hood get in the cab pretty easy.

could just be a Leak or something simple
Fill it up to the low mark on the coolant bottle and start watching for leaks
Next time park truck nose down and pull the egr valve check for coolant
tthe soot should have been dry sounds like you may need a thermistatwe

checked the level again, found some

went out last night cause i was curious and got "up on top" and looked in with a flashlight. seemed about 1.5 to 2 incles of fluid
but i will check and replace thermo is necessary.
