Truck started blowing cold air so checked coolant level added over a gallon. Things were fine for about a week, cood air again checked coolant and it was low again. Can not smell or find antfreeze anywhere. Dipstick was fine. (no foaming or anti freeze smell) I did notice that its seems to smoke more though. Sometimes grayish blue in color. I did have the egr valve cleaned and new O rings replaced about 5,000 miles ago.
Any suggestions? My truck is 2005 F 250 CC FX4 6.0 with 80,000 miles.
Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated.
Pull your EGR valve and see if it is at all wet or damp for that matter. If You can park it on a downhill overnight so that when You pull the EGR You can see if there are any fluids in the EGR system. If You have any dampness ie.. coolant, this will tell You that most likely your EGR COOLER is leaking. Any Q's post back and someone will help You for sure. Good Luck.
i seem to have been low on coolant too i have a egr delete. little more smoke in the morning but i think thats b/c i is so cold out. no smell or anything. please let us know what you find tow2atm
Yah not good. EGR cooler is junk. Thank goodness its under warranty yet! My mechanic usually gets $2400-$2600 to replace them.(EGR cooler and Oil cooler) Since its under warranty I pay the dealership $100. And they will also replace the oil cooler too, since thats where the problem starts
If you are planning on keeping your truck, I suggest a full EGR Delete..
If you are worried about emissions, your EGR does absolutely nothing on a
diesel to lower emissions.
Leave the valve in so it passes the visual test.
Mine passes every time, so go figure.
