I just became proud owner of this 2k ex, needs a Lil TLC but runs sweet, except when cold. She sputters a little so i'm checking the fuel filter and changing the spark plugs and see if that helps.
Cosmetic is good but needs a few dings touched up and minor scratches taken care of but other than that no major dents. I am missing this part circled in red.
I cant find this part for one reason, i don't know the name of it...I could just run to the junk yard but i prefer it new as i intend to order both of them along with the front bumper kit.
It's a small mud flap or guard.. I've looked and looked and figured this would be the right place to ask..
Also, is there an ex parts book or reference catalog of some sort?.. I owned a 66 caddy when i was a teenager (i'm now 33) and i remember going to my local auto part store and getting a 3 inch thick book with everything i needed for the car with part number and drawings.
Is there something i can download to get parts references with illustrations like that?
I also noticed that my catalytic converter is sort of exposed too much near the rear. is that normal on the 2000 or is something different?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated as I'm a Excursion virgin..
That's not the CAT, it's another muffler. It mellows the tone out, it's ugly, I know but it makes a difference, I left mine but added a aftermarket tip to the end. If you wanna do that you're gotta have to cut the pipe after the muffler, but leave about an inch or two so there is something to add on to. welcome to the club, I'm a newbee too, about 5 months in, and trust me the up grades never stop.
P.S. Love the color! check out my pics.
Welcome! The part is the same on the F-350 XLT so if you're trying to find it at a bone yard, you can look at more than just Excursions. May be easiest just getting it from the dealer as most Excursions have the full lower cladding and that part is different for those.

Big blue is a beast. Nice.. yea man that muffler is ugly. Im taking that crap off first thing in the morning.. I might just run straight pipes.
is big blue the same blue as mine?
This blue has a story behind it. Quick,, lol.. I recently sold my 94 Chevy suburban for a more fuel efficient mini van which thru a rod on me on the highway doing 85mph. I kicked my self in the butt because i let my wife talk me out of selling my blue baby. I figured i had to take one for the team and make the sacrifice since blue baby sucked my pockets dry at the end of the week. . But when the minivan took a crap on the highway with all 5 of the kids in the car i looked at my wife and told her "it time to play with big boys again". I looked for a bigger badder truck. I never really looked at the ex but i decided to take one for a test drive. It was a 2003 black on leather 4x4.. $10,500. my wife and i went home in love with it.. Only problem was the price. We did not wanna finance so we went on craigslist. After a week of looking with now luck, There she was. Blue 2000 ex, Same as my blue baby. lol.. Sorry.... here is my old truck blue baby... I miss it dearly and if i see it again i will offer to buy it back. . Thanks for the advice..
That blue color would be my first choice if I was picky enough.
Nearly endless reading on here regarding lifts and tires. You've come to the right place for any and all info about these trucks. Great folks here to help spend your money. I'm only 6 months into owning one myself.
