I don't think it should fail so quickly, unless you somehow damaged it putting it in. It does not need to be very tight.
I think I would take it out and see if they'll warranty it at the parts counter.
I've got a new one on the way (warranty). I just for the life of me can't figure why the 2nd one failed ? I just had major work done (studs,EGR delete, head gasket, new HPOP, IPR valve) and the shop said they sometimes fail after being that deep in the motor (not all the time but it happens) so I get the first one but the second ?????
I am the KING of the "over tighten" but I tourqued this to specs 106" lbs ?
Great, Thanks.
You probably could get a new oil cap with the port in it for that also.
Sure can ! I opted for the weld in bung because of all the factory only filters and cap threads on here....
The EAS system is great !!! I have the EGT probe , fuel pressure (sensor in the test port if the filter housing) and of coarse the oil pressure sensor . You can add on the turbo timer , back up camera , more sensors.... You just pull the cap , plug in new "X" , replace the cover cap and your done !
Soooo let's say for S N giggles my Torque wrench malfunctioned ? How tight is tight enough for the EOP switch ? It's got an O ring but keep in mind it's a 27mm socket being turned in my case w/a 1/2 dr ratchet so a LiL is ALOT .... Will hand tight + a smidge work ?
My book says 9 ft/lbs. I would say that is "snug". If it's got an o-ring, you're basically tightening it enough so that it doesn't come loose.
Good copy man thanks ! Any weird underlying issues that could cause these to fail ? I have a gut feeling in thinking back that I may have over tightened it but baring that I just don't understand it ?
The only thing I can think of is if for some reason the wire attached to it doesn't have any slack and it's pulling on the connector. But I doubt that is the case.
