My 1995 Bronco is giving me a clicking sound when I reverse and turn, like out of a parking spot. It doesn't do it every time, just enough to annoy me. Three weeks ago I had the front rotors and pads replaced, and the mechanic told me he had to take the hubs off to do so, which makes sense. It didn't do this before then, so what would the problem be? I really don't feel like having to replace the hubs right now. They're auto hubs, by the way, which I guess seem to be pretty problematic.
Not sure about auto hubs, but I think the mechanic put something together wrong or laeft something loose inside.
I'm sure somebody will know more than I do on that field. Good luck
Not sure about how the auto hubs work but maybe the "dog" wich basicaly locks the hub to the axle (it is the first thing you see when you remove the hub locking mechanism, this is held in buy a screw to the hub, pushed by the hub locking mechanism on manual hubs) has been put in back to front? But maybe the auto ones are different that the manual ones in their opperation?
I know mine made a noise when repacked the bearings, it was just touching the inner hub teeth, as it was back to front.
Auto hubs? Theyre total crap. Once they start making noise, its a lost cause. To switch to a good set of Warn Premium hubs is only like 130 (assuming you have 3 bolt hubs, if not, its only like 85 for the pair, the other cost is for the special adapter)plus an hour or so to put them on. At least we are out of winter weather where you might need them. If you search through the old posts, Im positive you might be able to find the specific answer to why youre hubs are clicking in reverse. Its a highly talked about topic.
