460 stroked to 521. how many horse?

I picked up an 89 f250 with a 521 ci stroker. It has a 4 speed trans behind it. All I really know right now is it has a comp cam, hooker headers, big Holley double pumper carb and the stroker kit. About what horse power level am I looking at?

What compression ratio? Which Comp cam? What heads are on it? Has any work been done to them? What intake manifold is on it? What size is the carb? We need much more information if you want anything close to an accurate answer.

That's the problem. I'm not quite sure. I don't think the old owner knows either. Its a 750 double pumper. The heads are cast, that's a given. I believe it had an aluminum intake on it but not sure of a part number. I'll have to clean it up and look for it.

Is a 750 to small for a 460?

I'll have to do some testing to see what al it had. I'll try to post cam specs when I figure out out I'll talk to the old owner and see what he knows but he seemed pretty clueless, that's probably why I got the whole truck for 500

The only way you're really going to know is to put it on a chassis dyno and run it.

Without specifics, anywhere from 500 to 900.

With 500 on the low end this motor should be just fine for me. That's a lot of power!

Could even be less than 500. Especially with iron heads. Who build s a 521 with iron heads? What a waste

Agreed. I'll guess anywhere from 300-700 hp, but without details, we're all just shooting in the dark here.

To do that I'd have to tear it down to the bare block correct? Or is there a better way? I mean either way I bought a good parts truck. 500 bucks for a solid body and a 460 motor trans and t case. I can use the body for my other 89 pick up that's falling apart and the 460 trans and x case for my mud truck.

Have you measured one of the header tube's for diameter...that would be a good indicator, of just how mean she was intended to be.

Looks to be a 1 5/8" primary to a 3" collector.

A 1 5/8" primary is TINY for a 521 c.i. engine. Either way, like you said, you did alright for $500.
