And before you take it out, get a replacement for it. They tend to strip.

And the way the fumoto hangs out, you get a better flow control. Less mess.

Fumoto valve:

Ford part number: 6E7Z-9C082-A
International part number: 2589259C91
List price is around $16.00

Putting an end to this insanity - PRICELESS!

DTS Articles - HFCM Water Separator Drain Plug Upgrade

Since you are doing your own fluid changes, maybe think about a Fumoto oil drain valve also.
F-111 or F-111N which has a nipple for a hose to drain your oil into.

I needed a new copper washer for my drain plug on a past change, they charged me $15 for the stupid thing. Not anymore!

Does anyone know the thread size of the HFCM drain plug? I'm looking to replace my HFCM drain plug with a Fumuto quick drain and not have it run down to my armpit. I always drain mine during oil change and oil change is 600 miles out.
This seems like a better idea than Ford has with their upgrade plug and you can control it a hell of a lot better. Into a jar instead of all over the place.

I have the new quick drain plug no problem it runs down the plug into a large mouth peanut jar drain out about 1-2oz once a month no problem if you install the quick drain of some kind it will leave some water in because it will be higher than the threads not a lot but higher.

I have a small funnel that has one side higher than the other. I tape one end of the funnel in a 20 ounce bottle. The other end sticks up between the drive shaft and HFCM with the high side of the funnel against the drive shaft. When I remove the plug, the fuel hits the high side of the funnel and runs in the bottle, hardly ever makes a mess.

I think he is looking for a fumoto like valve that is used for the oil drain to put on the water drain plug.(flick the lever) Not sure it would get the lower part of the area drained though. Seems like it would be a little higher.

Edit: (As I see Diesel pop has also mentioned)

Yeah, I think those part numbers I re-posted were the upgraded HFCM water drain plugs.

I never put the two side-by-side but I'm wondering if the water drain plug & test port plug (on secondary filter housing) are the same size/thread? Off the top of my head, they seem very similar (same 6mm hex size), but like I said, never had both next to each other.
