My 87 f-150 4.9L 4x4 4 speed has manual windows and locks and I was thinking about maybe swapping a set of doors with power windows and locks onto it. I usually like manual everything just so stuff dont break as often but I'm getting lazier and power windows and locks sure are nice.
My drivers door is rusting out and is getting worse every week and I though about maybe just finding a set of doors from the junk yard.
My question is: does my truck even have the existing wiring to just plug in the new doors? The fuse panel has a spot for it with power run to it (I use if for aux lights) Truck has no special trim package or anything, just bone stock f series.
Chances are there is no wiring in the truck, but it's an easy mod. The power doors, if removed correctly will have everything you need. It's an 8 wire harness. The drivers side door has the long part of the harness that runs to the passenger side door. In the kick panel on the passenger side there is a large green plug. Other than the door to door harness you need two power wires that go to the #12 and #14 in the fuse box. Even if the harness is cut at the drivers side, you can easily make the harness, as I did. There is a wiring diagram here somewhere or I probably have it. Again, it's a relatively easy conversion. Easier than swapping out the power / manual regulators, etc.
The power wiring is there in the lower left-hand kick panel but what you are missing is the wiring harness that goes across the truck to connect the passenger door up. It runs just underneath the windshield behind the dash.

This must vary by model / year, it was not there on my 92 XL. I've read where the options and even the radio or radio delete pkg makes a difference on what the truck is wired for.
I'm going to the junk yard either tomorrow or friday and Im going to look for a set and at least see how the wiring is. Maybe Ill be able to get a decent set for not too much. Then I get to paint them to match the rest of my truck, whoo...

Mine had it when I converted - I just plugged the wires from the door in and then put a 30 amp breaker in the proper spot in the fuse panel.
