Ahhh, OK. That must have been the super-friendly bulk price back in '03.

It would be of interest to see the results from your system as a comparison.

Ok so with my little screw up being said and done, what do I do now? Leave it alone, let it run its course and not do it again, or spend another $75 and count it as a lesson???....golly I would really hate to do that....

thank ya'll I now understand better...lol

as said before alot of good judgement comes from bad experience and alot of that from bad judgement lol (i think thats the way it goes)

If the truck is running alright I'd probably just run it & do an oil change at 3000 & then change it again in another 3000 to get back on a regular oil change routine. I'd do the OC that close because you are not gonna get it all out with one OC but I believe in 2 or 3 you will get most of it out of the system.

^ Agreed, contrary to my chicken little post earlier your engine isn't going to blow up cause of this obv. I would run a 3000 mi OCI to get at least some of your money's worth out of the rotella. You still have 12 quarts of an oil with great cold weather properties so unless it is going to be bitter bitter cold where you live you should be fine with that.

I mean if you really want to go nuts you could pump out your HPOP res at your next oil change...that should get most of it out.

Now to throw a wrench in it all and stir everyone up again...lol Whatsup with Sea Foam?
I run it in every tank as a cleaning agent and anti gel. BUT it says it can also be used in your oil???

I try to do all that I can to take exceptionally good care of all of my vehicles.ESPECIALLY the engines.

Frankly I do not use anything that is "good for everything". Additives to the fuel are hard to prove anything usually. I will admit to using Diesel Kleen with Cetane Booster. I mostly use this when towing or in the winter. Can't tell you it makes a difference, but when towing the mileage does tend to climb a little bit when using it.

I totally agree with the use of Diesel Kleen. My 1999 truck had never had it untill about a year ago. I immediatly noticed a difference in sound of injectors (quieter), and acceleration and, especially on a steep hill, it would hold overdrive longer befor the down shift.

I throw a splash of diesel kleen in the fuel every once in a while. But thats a far cry from in the oil.

I prefer a little 2-stroke oil in my fuel more than anything else. I don't put anything in the oil.

To answer the OP's question, I generally change at around 5k miles. Once I get over 3k miles I start getting this icky feeling like I'm neglecting my engine. It's all I can do to make it to the 5k. That's one reason I don't think the oil bypass filter would be a good investment for me, I just don't think I could run my OCI's out to 10-15k and feel ok about it.

I wouldn't use Lucas to oil my door hinges!

I've seen the video for that crap and it is insane! It literally defeats the oils anti foaming agents and turns your oil into a whipped version of honey. Seriously, how much lubricity is there in air, that is about all Lucas is good for. They should be sued for the garbage.

Just about any oil that is with in the manufactures spec will do well. Some better than others but any of them will be better than Lucas anything. jm2cw

I use Rotella 15-40 but have thought about going to Mobil Delvac. I believe that Delvac has a slightly higher shear strength and my hold up slightly better in the hpop but I have a lot more reading to do on that to verify.

you guys are really pushing your rotella t6 to 8000miles? i was thinking of trying a semi synthetic rotella or the ford diesel oil but i dont know if i should with the extreem cold temps here in winter and all, i think the t6 might be best at -20f starts.

Rotella 15-40 every 3000 miles. Whenever I tow (longest distance round trip) 2000 miles change it when I get home. 2001 f-350 cc, drw. 210,000 miles bought new.

Dave
You bought an expensive trunk, why get cheap now.

I am probably more like every 7500 miles I guess. I am in South Carolina so I dont have any clue about the kind of cold you are talking about in Alaska and how full synth stands up to it. Now you have me worried that Im not changing my oil enough!! Does anyone else have any input on T6 and how often they change it?
