I have a 69 F100 and the turn signals stopped turning off after I move the wheel back to being straignt ahead. So I pulled off the wheel and I found some broken pieces of plastic ( and a dead bug?) but I don't see where it broke off from. I haven't done this on my truck before and am afraid of messing something up. What should I do next to see what is broken, what is most likely the problem. Thanks for the help.

One of mine broke off, so the signal only cancels when I turn left, and not right. A new switch is pricey, You might be able to find a good one in a junkyard, but most likely all that you'll find will be in the same shape as the one you have. I haven't been able to find one. Good luck
I pulled the cam off today but it was not broken. However, I found a tiny cylindrical piece of metal with some wire attached. I finaly figured out that it was supposed to be attached to a spring like another piece I found behind the wheel. What do these things do? Would they be the result of my signals not turning off? I still don't know what the broken plastic pieces are from. They look like they were used to form ring but can't see where at. Any ideas? Also, does anyone know what the thread size of the stud on the wheel is, I stripped it and need to rethread it. I went to the hardware store but couldn't find a bolt that would fit the nut in order to identify the size.
maximumhorsepower- the cam can be seperated from the switch if you break the little round retaing clip.
thanks for all the help

I thought that the cams were an integral part of the switch, I guess I was wrong.

You are right actually.
The problem with them has always been the Cam hook breaking off or the spring metal piece whch give the canceller its CLICK.
Some... you have to remove the rivet to repair > others are held in with a small screw.
You can purchase the plastic cam > snip the 2 wires > solder & wrap .... Voila ! A new switch
That spring and cylindrical piece sounds like your horn brush. Did your horn work before? Mine shot out of the steering column when I pulled my wheel off, never did find it had to buy a new one.

My '67 F250 has them. I would assume that the f-100 would too
