I Have a '04 6.0 and i had just bought a Dr. Performance predator. I was wondering if anyone has run one in their truck and how well it performed

I assume its a tunner

Most on here go with SCT tunner other tunners tend to KILL the Tranny

Edge and Bulley Dog are Famous for taking out the tranny in these trucks

I dont think many run that brand of tunner you have Good Luck with it

Someone told me the juice with attitude would be a good tuner for my pickup. i had no idea that it would be hard on my tranny. I've recently been looking into the sct livewire. How well do they perform

Basicaly any shift on the fly tuners are BAD

Its kinda like your computer when it updates sometimes it needs to be restarted to take affect

I dont run a tunner cuz my truck is not ARP studded and I dont want to pop its top

But most on here do run the SCT tunner with custom tunes and they do have tunnes for a NON Studded truck advalible and folks seem to be ok with thoseones

Maybe Tex will comment on this thread he is one of the sites Tunner GURUs and has reashearched them more thanme

I would be willing to bet that they are buying into the marketing that Edge is really good at.

Shirt on the fly tuners (such as the Edge device you mentioned) do not tune, they intercept, modify and then send the signal on its way. They achieve HP/TQ increases by tricking the computer. Not a method that I'm particularly fond of.

Custom tunes specific for your truck are the best way to go.

Now where I disagree with Blade35 is the need to have studs on a truck running custom tunes. Custom tunes in of themselves do not always mean increase in HP/TQ. There could be no increase or they could actually detune the truck. Granted not many detune, but it is something that is achieved through custom tuning. Custom tunes also do not achieve HP/TQ output using the same dangerous (or at least I think so) methods as your off the shelf and/or shift on the fly tuners. Especially increases cylinder pressure. Now eventually you do have to do that when you start getting to the really "hot" tunes, but even some of the milder tunes have been known to run hot with the off the shelf tuners.

I wouldn't run an off the shelf tuner/module(shift on the fly for the most part) without a studded truck and a tranny rebuild kit, but that's just me.

Yeah the person i talked to was a edge certified dealer. At the time i was looking into the quadzilla adrenaline, and he told me they didnt sync very well with fords. All the different input i have gotten from different sources had made me weary as to what programmer to run in my pickup. i do plan on eventually doing the stud kit but i was going to wait cause i want to run o ringed heads as well. that being said what would be a good programmer to start with that would stack well with my DR Performance

O-ring is overkill unless you plan on doing an all out very high performance engine (upgraded turbo, injectors beyond useful street modifications).

I have 508HP at the rear wheels on my DRW and I don't have o-ringed heads. Hell I even use stock head gaskets. When you start getting into the a/m gaskets etc, installation has to be damn near perfect. Something that is difficult at the best of times and considering the "6.0 hatred" out there, not going to be easy to find a good tech to install it. Certainly not something that I would do as my first go around. Using stock gaskets would be different, but not the a/m ones.

Stacking is also something that really doesn't work well with the 6.0. Get yourself a good custom tune and you'll be a whole lot better off then what you have no or what you are thinking about doing (stacking).

No, I was inferring that you mentioned that because you believe that it's best to have a studded truck before you run a tuner.

Wrong conclusion?
