Self Destruct Countdown

Has anyone here tested their alarm system on the truck. I thought it was pretty hilarious when that screen popped up and made the 5 second countdown. It reminded me of some kind of self destruct mechanism.

There's a passive alarm system? Does this need to be enabled to work?

If you open the door with your key (not the remote) it will begin to count down until the ignition is turned to the on position.
This occurs at least with the XLT trim.

You have to let the truck sit for a while for the system to arm. 5/10 min maybe.

It only seems to take about 30 seconds to arm on my lariat.

You would be surprised (or maybe not) how some people actually have forgotten this with newer vehicles!

This has been set off by me 2x and I still couldn't tell you what the sequence was that caused it. Some point I will get to that part of the manual. Funny thing was the last time I was in my garage opened the door and it starts saying I have 5 seconds to start to stop the alarm, problem was I left the keys in the house. There I go running into the house with a few choice words along the way.
