bench seats are interchangable from the 60's up to the 90's, so if there is a seat that you like that has cupholders, or the cupholders that attach (forgot about those) you can do two upgrades at once.

1979 and earlier are interchangeable with the 1980/up to 1996 only if you change the seat tracks.
Most seat tracks will just unbolt from the bottom of the seat.
I use a roll of duct tape. Its plenty heavy so you dont have to worry about it tipping over, and, when the plastic is off of it the roll is somewhat grippy to the floor rather its carpet or rubber.
I personally made a custom center console for the floor that could hold two can or bottles of soda. It also had an open storage compartment, as well as a shelf to mount a CB. Unfortunately with a Ranger Lariat trim truck, it made for wayyy too much woodgrain, so I took it out.
Maybe a nit-picky lil' thing, but my truck is running pretty good, and driving it to work every day, so the lack of a cup holder is bugging me. Sometimes I just set my can on top of the dash, it's nice and flat, but not very secure. A decent aftermarket console you put on the seat is sorta pricey for a good one, and I'm not much of a carpenter. What do you guys do?
I used to use one of the 6-hole pot holders you get at any garden center when you purchase a bunch of plants. Each hole is the perfect size for a 32-44 oz cup from local gas stations. Not very pretty but free. I now use a 2 can setup that just sits in front of the bench seat of my 86 F150
Also of note, some of the 1992-1996s have cup holders that bolt to the front of the bench seat. Would be easy to attach that to ours...
That is what I have in my 80 and 86

That works equally well, and you always have duct tape handy
