Well I made the pilgrimage to Cleveland TN and DP Tuner! and within 45 min James turned my RedSled into a Red Rocket!!Yee Haaa ! That 80 econ rips!! Still have to do some massageing on the shifting though! The truck has the Banks Trans command module and the shifts are very hard right now. I have a bypass plug coming for it and when I get it installed I wll give it another run ! As it is right now between 40 and 50 mph speeding up and slowing down on the twisty roads she drops out of OD to 4th VERY HARD and very often. So next step is to put in the plug and if the DP trans tunes do the job!! Will keep ya posted ! The big test will be pulling my 34 footer up the mountain!! BTW: James is pretty cool cat !
Mine shifts back into "3rd" hard too. It down shifts at 47mph not 47ish but 47 on the dot and will drive at 48 mph all day long in OD. DP can tweek that as much as you want
I hope you have gauges for that towing of the 34 foot trailer. I love there tuner but EGT's will climb quickly in the mountains towing with there tunes unless it is live tuned not to do so. Lower horse power tunes work best for this.
In case you didn't catch it, one thing John alluded to above is that your trans is dropping down into 3rd gear. 4th gear and OD are the same thing. Just want to make sure you are tracking.
Robert! you are correct it is 3rd gear ! my brain thinks it is 4 speed OD ! DUH! With the Banks chip the trans had pretty soft shifts . Was hard to tell if it even was working might not have been? It may be working now or the DP is, not sure till I bypass the Tr Com. If it still shifts hard I am gonna have it tweaked a bit! We have a lot of curvy roads in this area and the way it is now its lots of hard up and down shifts! It is a new trans and I don't want to hurt it and my neck!! !In my 99 PS I had a basic Hytech programer with the shift option. The upshifts were firm but no hard downshifts. It was pretty good! I want to thank all for your comments ! This is one hell of a forum!!
