I have a 1986 f-250 with A 6.9 Litre diesel xlt lariat. I bought this truck without a trasmission but there was one suppost to come with it but never saw it. it had a 4 speed in it but taken out for a bearing to be put in it.
can anyone tell me what tranny this was?
i had bought a parts truck for a C6 tranny and switched most of it over the the tranny lasted me a week. It was going to cost too much the rebuild so i started looking for another one to put in and having a hard time finding one.
If i could find a 4 speed to put back in it I will try to find one.
T-19 is a heavier-duty transmission and has a synchronized 1st gear while the T-18 doesn't. .The T-19 top cover is cast iron. As far as I can tell they are the same 4x2 and 4x2.
Not a problem, I would however suggest that you should swap a 5spd zf trans into it. It is basically/is just bolt in and it gives you over drive. I know I wish I had it in my t19 truck.
Yeah exactly I think it is 92+ trucks that have it. It is really a no brainer that you should swap a zf if you have to swap trans anyway. Search for "zf swap" and it will give you all ya need to know.
Looks like a great thread, I would suggest looking here also. From what I understand it is a direct bolt in. I am also actively looking at junkyards and other places to get an overdrive, and or bigger trans as in 6-10 gears to put in my ford. It will be a lot of work but very beneficial in the long run.
