I have a 1997 ford f150 extented cap with a 4.6. I put a new engine in it last year it has 6000 on it. I replaced the injectors; coils; plugs all the sensers. the trouble is it runs great for about ten mins then it starts missing . I ran a code check and it says its miss firing on number 2 4 6 7 any advice thanks
What brand of coils ? What brand of plugs ? Correct heat range ?
Sounds like the problem starts when the engine is finally warm. It's not running hot ?
I bought motorcraft got everything though napa it is not running hot, now it has a ping in it when i hit the gas or ging up hill . I love my truck it is really good shape for a 97 i put 4k in it so far with the new engine and all the parts want to get it painted and make it last 10 more years nice not having a payment
A good scanner to look at the ignition timeing live will get you an idea what the timing is doing to cause ping.
Scanner will tell about the fuel tables.
Lean codes should tell about air leaks for to much air.
Three ways ping comes about.
1. To much ignition timing caused by a fault. Often with the EGR system.
2. Fuel to lean, not enough fuel pressure at the injectors for the pulsewidth being applied to the injectors.
3. To much air for the fuel metered by the injectors.
Good luck.
