I'm still in the process of getting my '00 F350 in shape. I noticed that the trans is dripping fluid from the area you can see in the pic. Looks like it is coming from the hole, forgive me for not knowing what it is acutally called, there in the side of the trans. What is that hole? There is one on each side of the trans or it actually may just be a hole going all the way across the trans. I'm getting ready to have the trans pulled to put a new clutch in and would like to be able to tell them what is leaking there so so they can fix that too.
There is a little boot on top of trans where the shifter go into the trans, it could be torn and letting trans fluid run down the the trans. I had mine tare.
Well if that is where its coming from then it's probably just residual fluid left over still dripping down. I just replaced the whole shifter assembly. The previous owner must have been a few bricks shy of a load. He had it all ganked up. The outer boot was missing the "gasket" underneath it so he had jammed a pice of innertube in there. All of the bolts in the shifter stub were loose, I mean real loose. I bought a whole new shifter assembly including a new shifter stub and installed them the correct way. I wish I had taken pics of what it looked like in there before I fixed that mess, there was no wonder I could smell ATF really bad inside the cab!

Sounds like you rescued your truck from an abusive owner!
Those are drain holes for the bellhousing so anything you wash (or leaks) from the engine valley goes into the bellhousing and out through those holes.
