Tire recomendations.

Hey, Just wanted some tire recommendations. I know ill probably get a bunch of harsh replies, but i figured I would ask anyways lol

I have a 2011 F250 FX4, right now it has the stock 265/70/17. I would like to fit the biggest tire possible, without rubbing issues. I had planned on doing a leveling kit for the front, but no other suspension changes at this time. I thought maybe a 295 would be good, but for some reason I can never figure out size conversions. lol. a 35" is BIGGER than 295 right? I have had some people say a 295 is a 35, others say a 35 is like a 315. But I have no f*$*&#@ clue.

Anyways, get your jabs in for my dumb question, but if someone could give some advice on a large tire, that wont rub, it would be much appreciated.

Also, what does everyone seem to like? I have heard good things about the terra grapplers. I do about 90% city/highway, but want a good tire for the times i gotta venture in the snow/mud, and also something that looks good in the process. . I have had the Yoko Geolanders, and the BFgoodwrench all terrains, not amazing, but I liked em.

metric tire sizes are given in a ratio of width vs height and a bunch of other confusing junk. Look up at the top for a metric size conversion chart.

by this it means 35s could be either 315s or 295s depending on width.

I real liked my old Dick Cepek FCIIs. I got 80k out of them and they rode great. I absolutely hate my Nittos. 25k miles and damn near slick.

265-70-17
265 is width in mm
70 is the ratio from ground to rim so..,
265•.7=
185.5x2=371
To inches /25.4=14.6
Then add the height of rim.
14.6+17~=31.5

That's how to figure it put if you are not around a computer just to look it up.

lol, im new to the game, so had I not read the other thread RIGHT before I created this one, i probably would have asked more about this.

What is the deal though? i read up on the tire, It looks pretty nasty, but seems to perform horribly. I guess its the "I want the look of offroading, but dont want to get my truck dirty" Tire?

thornbirds look like they'd grip like hell when you first look at them, and then you look closer and realize all they are is an all terrain tire with big honking side lugs. the tread pattern doesn't have enough space between lugs to self clean worth a damn, and the pattern is just a bunch of all over the place interlocking garbage with no real biting edges. but they "look cool" and make the swamper howl when driving so they impress the kids at the local high schools

fun fact: 4 out of every 5 "off road" vehicles i see on craig's list have thornbirds on them

Maybe when they say "offroad" they really mean it, as in, they cant get their truck out of the mud and back on the road

I admit they do look good and you'd think the side lugs would make them better than most other ATs but they don't.

I had a set of 31x11s on my Ranger in '96ish not long after they came out/before the world knew they sucked donkey dong. I quickly saw the light and traded them out for some 32x11.50 SXs.
