Knock Sensor

I have a 1986 F-150 4x2 with a 5.0 EFI I was removing the knock sensor on top of the intake manifold and unbeknown to me at the time I broke it and now I need a replacement. Unfortunately no aftermarket companies make a replacement for it so I'd have to go to the dealer and pay and arm and a leg to get one. Does anyone have a used one they could spare? Of course I'd be willing to pay a reasonable price for it plus shipping costs. I'm really in desperate situation here and hope someone can help me out. If you can help please contact me at flatheadjohn@gmail.com or call me at 916 212-0657 Thank You!

I thank everyone for their responses! Not! Guess I must have the plague or something hence no one responded. Thanks guys! Not to worry I was able to procure one at a Pick-n-Pull out in Antelope, CA. Just for your information they have lots of 70s, 80s, and 90s Ford trucks out there with lots of good parts still on them, however I won't be willing to go pull any parts off them for you since I got zero help here. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Hmmm.... You asked if anybody has a spare knock sensor you can have but nobody responded, I'd guess that means no, nobody has one.

So, now, four days later, you're twisting this into, "Since none of you guys would help ME and go searching in your junkyards for me, I'm not going to help YOU by going to this gold mine of junkyards I have here and get YOU parts."

Fine.

We have a Junk Yard Wishlist thread here in which people post their wants & desires, but I don't think anybody expects instantaneous results.

Myself, I like to go to the yards and help people when I can but am still looking for a new job and it doesn't have much priority with me right now. Besides, last time I was out there, they had all of 2 80-86 trucks, I can't say I remember if either were 85-86 and had EFI or not.

Nor would I even know where on a 302 with EFI a knock sensor is located nor what it looks like.

Nevertheless, people here do what they can, when they can, to help others.

Sorry nobody could help you; if you want instantaneous service, go to the dealer and purchase a new one.

Don't let the door slam your butt on the way out, and please take your presumptuous attitude with you.

Geez man... you're surprised no one has a spare obscure knock sensor on an EFI 5.0 7th gen (only produced for two years)... I have a 4.9L knock sensor I don't know if it will help or not. It's obviously not from a 7th gen though.

Sorry if I sounded off base so please except my apologies if I offended anyone. I never expected an instantaneous answer but after I saw 30 views and nothing I got a bit pushed out of shape. I've had a frustrating past 3 months, if anything can go wrong it has, I realize it's no none fault but my own so I'll get over it. Point taken. Have been frustrated with this truck for the past six months and it just might end up at the crusher.
Now on a different subject if anyone might need an easily removed part from one of several 80 through 90s Ford trucks let me know as I might be making another trip out there for parts.

You do not need the knock sensor. The truck's 5.0 are the only one's that have the sensor. The only thing it does is retard the timing 3-5 degrees if knock is detected and unless you have the timing turned way up or pulling massive loads with 87 oct fuel, or have heavy, heavy carbon buildup in your combustion chamber....there is no harm in not having the knock sensor. My guess is Ford included it for folks pulling heavy loads, lugging the engine and are doing so with 87 oct fuel. If you have knock under heavy load, just bump the fuel to 89 and then to 93 if necessary. Problem solved. Cost $0.

Peace.

73FOMO, Thank you very much for the information as I wasn't aware that's what the knock sensor's function was. I had just broke it and didn't know if it needed to be on there or not especially since I live in California and everything under the hood has to be on the engine when you have to have the smog check done. I don't pull any heavy loads or tow with it so I guess it wouldn't have made any difference whether it was on there or not and the timing is right on. I'm planning to get rid of this truck soon and just want to make sure everything is in order. Thanks again and I sincerely appreciate the help.
