oil leaks while not running

oil leaks while not running
i just bought a truck and im working on getting it road worthy. it's leaking oil bad over night. I don't think a rear main seal would leak without enging running??
Do oil pans rot out alot on these trucks? only thing is it looks like the leak is coming from above the oil pan?? the dipstick is dry.
Valve covers?
Oil cooler?
main seal?
oilpan gasket?
rotted oil pan?

Mine would seem to leak only after it was parked. Started leaving one hell of a mess. When i was changing the oil i figured i would check how tight everything was. Turns out, nothing was. Tightened valve covers, oil pan, and lift pump and no more leaks, for now anyway, this is only the 2nd or 3rd time ive retightened everything in 10k or so miles.

damn. but i would think there would be no oil above the oil pan gasket. and the oil in valve covers would have drained down back into pan. i'll check everything next time
