I'm gonna be doing my solid axle swap this winter and I'm wanting to keep my ttb coils. How thick of plate do yall think is necessary for the adapter? I have 3/4 but I'm not sure that will be enough. Is that thick enough?
Yeah its the lower mount, the thing is that it will be slightly off center from everything that I have seen about people making adapters. So I don't think that 3/16 will be close to enough. But i don't know that's why I'm asking
I'm gonna be doing my solid axle swap this winter and I'm wanting to keep my ttb coils.
ummmm, no you don't want to keep them. the ttb coils are way too damn stiff to use on a sas conversion and the truck will ride like a tank.
the way the ttb is set up it uses the radius arm and "chicken wing" action to overcome the stiff springs, it doesn't work like that on a solid axle. google it if you don't believe me.
People are raving about the ride quality of rear springs in the front here lately so for all we know this thing will ride like a 78 Buick regal.
No matter what springs you end up with I wouldnt waste my time with anything more than 3/8" plate, 1/4" being probably plenty. 3/4" would be well beyond the point of overkill and directly to the doorstep of stupid...imo.
