I bought a 2004 F250 about 7 weeks ago with 194,000 miles on it. The truck has been running great when warm. Temp gauges are normal (i dont have scangauge, etc..) when the truck is running. The only time the truck has any issue is on a cold start. It has the lack of power and slow tranny shift for about 5 minutes after start. If i let the truck warm for about 5 minutes, it will run fine, or if i plug it in. I am using 5w-40 rotella and use diesel kleen with fill-ups.
I got my fuel filters replaced a few days ago and since then, i have had a leak under my truck. There is no color to the liquid and I cannot come to a conclusion of the smell. Underneath, the liquid is all over. When it drips on the ground, it is primarily centered under the engine. From above, there is nothing wet that can be seen. There is a little bit of white chaulky coolant sitting on the tank, but I do not recall if that was there before. The coolant level has remained between max and min as far as I can tell. Oil level is normal. Trans oil level is normal. Brake fluid level normal. Truck is getting about 12MPG right now.
The truck has had the FICM fix. I do not know what else has been done to the truck. Are there any suggestions as to what this can be? Is there any way I can tell if it is the gaskets beginning to go from this? Is this milage common for gaskets to go out? Any other suggestions welcome!
And just in case, I do know how the search feature works on the forum!
Welcome
If you just had the fuel filters changed then i would think it would be diesel check both caps and the cap to the fuel reg on the top filter houseing and you need the scangauge the white stuff around the degasing tank is coolant could be a bad egr cooler need to check the spread on ECT-EOT max 15* if more than 15* need to change both oil and egr cooler but you need to do a coolant flush first.

Well, I took my truck back to the shop I got my fuel filters done at about this problem. After having a look, they told me it is the fuel filter housing leaking diesel from between some plates or o-rings, they can't tell exactly. They have ordered a new kit and will install for $250.
Does this issue sound familiar to anyone? Or does anyone have a name for this part/issue?

Hold the BOAT $250 for what a $50 part and a 1hr install max look here or they screwed up the lid when they changed the filter and you have to pay for there screw up
Diesel pop is right on the ball, why in the world would you pay $250.00 for something that was NOT leaking before they touched it, now they touched it and its LEAKING.
My car had a bad ignition switch so I had it towed to the dealer got the Ignition switch changed no problem but as Im driving this car home the radio was cutting out hard the radio and ignition switch sit right next to each other. So I call them on it and they told me how great the tech was and theres no way it could have been caused by him and that I should check with the folks that installed the radio or pay them the 90$$ bucks an hour to look at it. I thought that was pretty Chicken***** of them. It Didnt have any problems before it went in. I said screw it I will fix it myself and never use them again. It could of happened to anyone No Big Deal . It took me all of 15 minutes tops to fix it. I just thought they would take care of a customer a little better than they did.
Yeah, I'm going to be calling them back tomorrow expressing my opinion. They bought the parts without even consenting with me first. It's really annoying because I've given them plenty of business in the past.
If they bought the parts before telling you it sounds like they new you'd be calling them back.did you have just the filters changed,or a new fuel pressure spring installed?.
it's hard to see, I have my CAC tube off the intake elbow and the air filter removed here, but i found a leak on mine in the same area you are talking about. You can see the clean spot where the leak was, and the wire harness was sticky and soft. It's obvious if it's been leaking for a while. might want to look at it before raising too much he** , just to make sure it hasn't been leaking awhile.
