It's possible. Pull the intake and inspect the wheel and housing for any signs of contact. Check the shaft for in and out play, or see if you have enough up/down or side to side play for the wheel to contact the housing.
Also try pulling the belt and inspecting all the pulleys to see if anything doesn't feel right. I've seen a worn water pump start to squeal as the impeller began to rub against the water pump housing and front cover.
All the things above and also check the vacuum pump, they have a sealed bearing. They will squeal at higher RPMs when the bearing gets dry and starts going out.
I had this happen and it turned out that the alternator pulley siezed up and the belt was going around it and squeeling. I needed a new alternator and pulley. Luckily I was able to walk to Napa from where I was stopped, lol.
