Rust and an undercarrage
Hey guys I am in the process of buying from a fellow a 1985 F250. I haven't looked at it yet but will be very shortly. I know very little about trucks and this is my first one to start with. Can yall show me some pictures of what would be considered too much rust or what is ok. When I get it I want to sand down all the rust and somehow coat it with something that will prevent it from rusting ever. I live in the South but I want to take precautions. I would appreciate any information guys. Thanks so much.

Take along an old screwdriver or pick and poke around the rusty areas and all around the undersides. If it cracks or goes through that's "too much" rust, whcih would have to be cut out and replaced. If it scrapes off and there's solid metal just under it, you can sand and coat it with POR15, RsutBullet or something like that.
